FERNHURST PARISH COUNCIL VOTES TO OPPOSE DRILLING

Last night a meeting of the Fernhurst Parish Council met to discuss the application by Celtique for exploratory drilling just outside the village. There were over 100 members of the public in attendance. After hearing representations from several local people, the PC then discussed the proposal.

7 members of the parish council voted to object to the application with 1 abstention (from Andrew Moncrief, who was UKIP's parliamentary candidate for Chichester in the last general election).

The parish council also agreed they should suggest to the SDNPA that various conditions be placed on Celtique if the application was ultimately approved. These conditions included a traffic management plan, the requirement for independent and ongoing environmental monitoring, and a full seismic 3D survey prior to any drilling commencing.
