Let's hope the SDNPA applies consistent standards when deciding whether to allow heavy industrial drilling in Fernhurst...

Recently Mr Nicholas Clarke, the patron of a high goal polo team based in Easeboune (about 4 miles from the Fernhurst site), lost his appeal against the refusal of the SDNPA to allow him to use the land for polo activities.

The government planning inspector, who heard the appeal, upheld the Authority's decision because of concerns that the scale of the buildings were not typical of the majority of equestrian activities found in the national park. He added "I conclude that the development has not conserved the landscape and scenic beauty of the South Downs National Park but introduced a form of development which has marred this beauty".
