Fracking in the UK - whatever happened to democracy?

Transient

Today the Times announced that this Government plans to remove the requirement of Fracking companies to obtain permission from landowners before drilling under their land. The measure will be included in the Government's Growth Bill.

So, this Government intends to remove ancient property rights so that a few individuals and their (often foreign) financial backers can make a quick buck, whilst polluting the land and devastating some of the most beautiful parts of this country.

The Government needs to be made aware that this is a huge electoral liability. They should be made to pay at the ballot box in May 2015. Unfortunately for some of us that may be too late.
